Garden to School Café

Garden to Cafe is a program of the NYC Department of Education, Office of SchoolFood, and a key partner in Grow to Learn: the Citywide School Garden Initiative. The program connects school gardening and school lunch through seasonal harvest events and educational activities.  

Garden to Café program objectives include:

• - Increase students' consumption of fresh vegetables and knowledge of healthful foods, farming and the local food system. 
• - Increase awareness of the benefits of school gardens.
• - Demonstrate the learning opportunity of integrating school gardening with school lunch.
• - Build awareness of the larger local food initiatives underway at SchoolFood.
